I explained how these appts are for eye injections for my macular degeneration so they have to get me in. The scheduler said only a nurse can authorize an overbooking so I would have to wait for her call. By Wednesday I still did not hear so called again and was told the nurse had been notified but she would send her another e-mail. Still did not hear from them but Fred has a very early appt this morning for his annual exam so he is going to try to find out why I haven’t heard anything. If that doesn’t work I’ll try one more time on the phone and this time I will see if I can actually be put through to a nurse as I’m getting concerned if they let it go too long I’ll be right back to square one. I wish I could find another eye doctor but this is the one on my plan so have no choice. I went for a hair trim yesterday and since it’s so hot and my car’s a/c no longer works Fred took me and picked me up when I was done. He told me when he got home Rosie went crazy trying to find me as it’s never happened that we went someplace together and I didn’t come back with him. He said she ran all around the house checking every room 2-3 times looking for me. Then he felt she should go out to pee. I asked how did that go as she won’t let him near her. He said I put on her leash and took her out. I then asked how were you able to get the leash on her? He said I cornered her in the bedroom and she had no choice. I said so you trapped her! He said cornering her is not the same as trapping her to which I definitely disagreed. When I got home she followed me even more than usual and kept giving him the stink eye and would not even play with him. At bedtime she snuggled as close to me as she could in the hopes he could not reach her to pet her but that didn’t work so she tolerated it. So it’ll be interesting to see how she does with him this morning. Still very muggy outside and Fred wants to go to Costco but I said if it stays like this I will wait another day to go. |

She said their nurses can schedule appts (which I know is untruthful as a nurse had told me they could only authorize schedulers to schedule an overbooked appointment) She then put me on hold for a few minutes and came back to say a patient had just cancelled their 2:10 appt for today so I could have that time. Seems pretty coincidental to me but whatever at least I’m getting in today! |

I actually give kudos to Fred for cornering or trapping Rosie to get her outside. Too funny. Wednesday morning I have a televisit with the gastroenterologist specialist at Mayo Clinic. He explained to me in great detail what he thought the polyp was and what his plan was to remove it. No sooner did I get off the phone then my son and I ran to the car to start driving to Jacksonville because I had a 1:00 EKG scheduled. My heart is in pretty good shape but I do have a mild to moderate aortic regurgitation and the doctor wanted to have an EKG to make sure that I was clear for the procedure. It's my first time to the Mayo Clinic and my first time actually in Jacksonville and probably 20 years. That campus is absolutely enormous! So many people were in bad shape it's sad to see but so wonderful that there is such a great resource near to hand. We had booked a reservation at the Holiday inn at Jacksonville Beach which turned out not to be on the beach at all it was nearly a mile away! Still the room was nice and I was there primarily to do my colonoscopy prep so wasn't really interested in what was in the area anyway. My son went out to dinner to a very nice local seafood place. He then decided to take a walk to the beach which he said was nearly a mile away. Yesterday we went to the Mayo for the colonoscopy. We parked at the building we parked at for the EKG and it turned out to be the wrong place. I walked a very long distance to the actual Hospital and Sam had to go back later to retrieve the car to pick me up. I checked in on time but somehow the front desk neglected to tell the surgical team that I was here so I sat for over an hour in the waiting room. By the time they came to get me they were frantic because the doctor was already waiting in the procedure room and was not a little irritated! They rushed me through all of the pre procedure details. Then before I knew it I was in there getting the anesthesia and then woke up in the recovery room. My left eye was very irritated and scratched apparently somehow I managed to scratch the eye so I'm now using an antibiotic salve. I don't think it's that bad but it's probably better to be safe than sorry. The polyp was much larger than my doctor had thought. My local doctor said it was 2.5 cm or 25 mm and it turned out to be 3 cm or 37 mm. I looked it up and that's 1.575 inches! The doctor removed the polyp and another centimeter for good measure to make clean margins and sent it off for biopsy. Once I was awake enough Sam picked me up and we drove straight home. It was so nice to be home. I have a little discomfort on the right side which given that they took out that much of my colon is not surprising but it doesn't really hurt it's more a little ache. Are you some kind of staple called an x-tack to close the incision and apparently they will eventually fall off and just be swept away so to speak! Amazing. My word for the day is grateful. I feel so good to know that that precancerous or cancerous growth is gone. At the very least it was precancerous but the doctor said it does look benign so prayers that the biopsy results agree with the doctor. He wants me to come back in 6 months for another colonoscopy just to make sure that everything looks good. That prep was absolutely horrible so I'm not looking forward to that. I wonder if there isn't a better prep I could ask for? It did clean me out which was its purpose but it was horrible! So that is all my news and I am very very glad to be home. Guess he was going to make sure I was seen today as he told Fred these injections are way too important to mess around with! Sharon I was able to get in at 2:10 today. |

What you went through is not good. I had a similar experience trying to book my appointment for an initial cognitive assessment. I called many times over a couple of months and NEVER got an appointment. Finally asked my doctor to call them. When I saw the doctor, whom I liked, I told him about it and he said they are having a terrible time getting someone to work at scheduling. She said the woman who currently works there had 200 messages on her phone!!! I told him they had to do something as there were people complaining on the internet. Ridiculous. Even more serious for you, as your timing is critical. Shragae, prayers for you with the polyp. I hate colonoscopies, mostly for the prep. I have an extra long colon so I have to start a day before most people. I know I need a new one soon. We are expecting a high of 91 today, but will be back to the 80s Monday. I will be working on getting the place straightened, putting aside everything for the cruise, and making some phone calls. Tom has not been well for a few days. He got a bad cold and last night it went to his chest. Always a risky thing for him as he has issues...bad asthma, repeated bouts of pneumonia, etc. I am worried about him. Prayers welcome. Ciao for now. |

I brought in 52 tomatoes so canning juice in a few days. I like to let them sat for a few days before canning. Just me. Four sisters and I have had a morning of text messages chatting so has put everything behind, just had breakfast and time for lunch. Did get my walk in and morning chores plus 3 greeting cards in mailbox. Need to mow but will wait until tomorrow after the rain. To be a bit warmer than today but I will be riding so it will be fine. Vicki I couldn’t watch the game the other night but did watch play by play, always much better to view but not always televised for all to watch. Tonight’s game is on ION so I can watch it. Wish they would hurry up an make their WNBA most valuable player instead of taunting everyone every day. No other player has had the overall impact Caitlin has with crowd increase, ticket sales, Jersey fees, etc but I don’t get to make the pick. Prayers for Joan, Shragae, Tom and Jane, plus anyone else in need. Bill and Mike. Will spend the afternoon downstairs. I often lock the door from garage into house while I am downstairs by back door as I wouldn’t hear anyone come them I come upstairs and go outside for something forgetting the door is locked and have locked myself out. Glad I know where that extra key is. Going to make sure there is more than one out there. |

I am so grateful as I am in desperate need. Sandy, Glad you were finally able to get in for your injection. Ha ha...cute Rosie story. She is such a stinker but wants things the ways she wants them. Don't we all Geri, It will be nice for you to have a cat when you get back from your trip. Shragae, Yay! You are done with your procedure. That was a big polyp! Now it is gone and you can concentrate on getting some rest and healing your body. Take care! Gail, Prayers for Tom. There is a lot of sickness going around in Florida as well. I know several people with respiratory illness. When you are already health compromised it is all the worse. I hope he will not need to be hospitalized. We'll get the sandwiches tomorrow when it's cooler. Karen E, sometimes the Fever games are televised on our local NBC channel but not tonight. We'll watch on ION tonight too. Send us some of that rain! We desperately need it. Sandy, glad you were able to get in for your eye injection today. Gail, sorry to hear that Tom is under the weather. Prayers for him.
